CSU APA and Kent State’s CUDC host Park(ing) Day – The Cauldron

CSU’s chapter of the American Planning Association (APA) and Kent State’s Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative (CUDC) collaborated to host  Park(ing) Day on Friday, Sep. 15 in front of the Music and Communications Building for a third year in a row. 

Hosted by several APA chapters across the world, the goal of Park(ing) Day is “to advocate for safer, greener, and more equitable streets for people,” according to the event flyer.

“Parking Day is an international urban planning day where we take parking spots away from cars and give them to people,” shared CSU APA President Connor Brentar.

Park(ing) Day hosted by CSU also featured fun activities like putt-putt, cornhole, and chalk, as well as free coffee.

A couple hundred feet down, across from The Longship, Kent State’s CUDC also celebrated Park(ing) Day with a mini golf course and board games.

“The Cleveland facility enables graduate students to pursue their studies in the midst of design challenges that are present in cities around the world,” reads the visiting organization’s website.

The Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative is located by the Cleveland’s School of Film and Media Arts by Playhouse Square. There were many civic leaders that attended this event, the most notable being Cuyahoga County Executive Chris Ronayne, who arrived via bicycle!
