What to expect on Giving Day 2024 at CSU – The Cauldron
Cleveland State’s eleventh annual Giving Day will take place on Feb. 29, celebrating and fundraising for a variety of academic programs, athletic departments and other initiatives.
The 11 participating groups include the colleges of arts and sciences, health, public affairs and education, business, law, graduate studies, honors, and engineering. Athletics, club sports, and university and student funds are also participating.
Within many of the groups, there are specific donation options such as departments within the colleges and the different teams that comprise the athletic programs. Other donation options include those of the Woodling Gym Enhancement Project and funding for specific student scholarships.
The goal of Giving Day is to have 2,024 unique donors across all of the fundraising groups.

During some hours, there are dollar-for-dollar matches from pre-determined donors. For example, the law school has 1996 graduate Brett Barragate matching all donations, up to $1,000, for an hour.
Donors for specific programs may also be entered in raffles to win prizes and benefits, according to the program.
The School of Music is entering all donors of $100 or more to win the chance to conduct a piece on a future CSU band or university chorus concert and the chance to win a free lesson.
The men’s and women’s golf team have raffles that include a foursome or twosome and lunch at Elyria Country Club or logoed golf balls.
Esports prizes include CSU, Guardians, and Browns gear, Cleveland Monsters and Cavaliers tickets, a Twitch shoutout, and an autographed Browns item.
Men’s and women’s tennis have many packages to be raffled, including bourbon, a free racquet, advance court bookings, and lunch with a team member and coach.
Women’s soccer has a signed ball, dinner for four at Viking Public House and a VIP apparel package that will be up for grabs.
A gift to CSU on Giving Day is said to be “an investment in Cleveland” since over 85% of CSU graduates remain in the area, according to Giving Day promotions.
Donations can be made here from 1:00 p.m. on Feb. 28 through noon on March 1.
