Viking Crime Log: two open felonies top CSU crime log for week two – The Cauldron

Week two of the spring semester saw an increase in crime reports, with two open felonies standing out in the Cleveland State University 60-day crime log.

Felony charges of theft and criminal damaging or endangering were reported at The Edge residence hall on Wednesday, Jan. 22, both of which remain open. Two separate cases of petty theft also remain open, one reported at the Student Center on Sunday, Jan. 19, and another in the Science Building on Friday, Jan. 24.

An arrest was made for a report of criminal trespass in the Music & Communications Building on Monday, Jan. 20, while campus was closed for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. On Thursday, Jan. 23, a case involving a felony warrant led to an arrest, with a charge of drug paraphernalia referred to the county prosecutor.

Using the 60-day crime log, available in person at the CSU Police Department and online, students can access the list of crimes from the past week. Below, they have been compiled into one list.

Under the Uniform Crime Reporting Program, Cleveland State University provides statistical information to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. According to the CSU Police Department website, CSU publishes this information “as part of Cleveland State University’s commitment to a safe and informed campus community,” and it is in compliance with the Federal Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990 (renamed the Jeanne Clery Act in 1998) and the Student Right-to-Know and Campus Security Act.
