Cleveland State University kicked off week six of the fall semester with a gauntlet of Homecoming events, such as goat yoga, a film festival, Woodstock Wednesday, Potterpalooza, a Homecoming parade and of course, the Homecoming dance.

The events were held throughout the week and offered the chance to actually do yoga with goats or experience what butterbeer tastes like.

At Potterpalooza, students could earn tickets by playing quid ditch and making a ball through a hoop, like pictured above. Photo by Gwen Bueche.

On Oct. 1, Potterpalooza was held in the courtyard, where students could partake in a variety of events straight off the pages of J.K. Rowling’s novels, such as quidditch or finding the golden snitch. Students could scarf down a slice of Harry Potter’s birthday cake while they competed in trivia on the muggy Tuesday afternoon.

On Wednesday, students enjoyed live music while they made a mess in the Student Center Atrium by tie-dying homecoming shirts at Woodstock Wednesday.

Also on Wednesday, goat yoga was offered to Cleveland State students for free outside the Student Center in the courtyard.

The event was full of relaxing activities such as outdoor yoga, accompanied by goats and an instructor. Students could head to a table to create their own stuffed goat. Students found the event different than what they were expecting, said Cleveland State student Katarina Schubert.

“The goat yoga offered in the quad was very relaxing and very different, which is a reason why I found this event fun,” Schubert said.

The Homecoming dance was held Friday, Oct. 4 from 8 p.m. to midnight. It was open to Cleveland State students to dance the night away and create memories with new friends.

The Homecoming dance was full of snacks, giveaways and the chance to snap a picture with your friends at photo booths.

Megan Koplin, a senior, ran for royalty and was thrilled to be included in this lasting tradition.

“Homecoming at Cleveland State is one of the most exciting times of the year to celebrate both our rich history as a university and to connect all proud Vikings,” Koplin said. “It’s such an honor to be a part of something so important to our campus.”
