How you can volunteer this Halloween – The Cauldron

maximios November 4, 2025 Guide

Halloween isn’t just about costumes and candy, it’s also a time to give back to the community. From helping at family-friendly events to supporting charitable runs, Cleveland offers several opportunities for volunteers to get involved and make the spooky season a little brighter for everyone.

One of the biggest Halloween events in the area, I-X Trick or Treat Street, invites volunteers to be part of the fun. Taking place Oct. 25-26 at the I-X Center, this event brings families together for a safe and exciting Halloween experience. Volunteers can help by passing out candy at themed stations, guiding children through the event and adding to the festive atmosphere.

This opportunity is open to individuals and groups such as schools, churches and community organizations. Volunteers receive free parking and light refreshments and are encouraged to wear Halloween-themed accessories that are fun but not scary. It’s a great way to earn community service hours or fundraise while helping create memories for local children.

Another volunteer opportunity this season is the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Foundation’s 24th Annual Halloween Run for Justice, held Oct. 25 at Edgewater Park. Volunteers are needed to assist with registration, water stations, race setup and post-event activities.

The event kicks off with registration at 8:30 a.m. and races starting at 10 a.m. Participants can join in a 5-mile run, a 5K run or walk, or a 1-mile fun run. After the race, volunteers can help with family activities such as costume contests, face painting and games. Food trucks and refreshments will be available for everyone to enjoy.

Beyond these two main events, several other organizations in Northeast Ohio are offering ways to get involved this Halloween season. The Lake Metroparks Halloween Drive-Thru invites volunteers to act along the route, while the Heights Halloween Festival in the Cedar-Lee area needs helpers for crowd control and activity booths. The Lorain County Metro Parks Halloween Fair is also seeking volunteers to play costumed roles.

Volunteering at these events not only supports local organizations but also builds community spirit during one of the most festive times of the year. Whether you hand out candy, cheer on runners, or help create a haunted trail, your contribution helps keep the Halloween fun alive for everyone.

Those interested in volunteering can visit event websites for sign-up details and shift information. Most positions require volunteers to be at least 16 years old, and group participation is often encouraged.

So this Halloween, instead of just dressing up, consider lending a hand. A few hours of your time can make the holiday more memorable for families across Cleveland.
