CSU women’s Soccer gear up for first Horizon League match against Milwaukee Panthers – The Cauldron
Cleveland State Women’s Soccer kick off their first Horizon League match of the season against the Milwaukee Panthers today at 5 p.m. in Krenzler Field.
The team looks to break their all-time losing streak of 0-23-1 against the Panthers. Though they nearly tied in 2022, ultimately falling with a score of 1-0, their single draw came in the 2014 season with a conference record of 3-4-1.
“Although, in the past, our results haven’t been the best against them, we are feeling pretty confident this year and plan to go out and play our best,” shared forward Madison Sievering, who’s playing her first season with the Vikings.

The Viking are coming off a 4-1 win on senior night against Saint Francis the previous week with a record of 3-4. The team has kicked off the month strong, winning two of three games. Meanwhile, the Panthers are coming off a loss of 0-1 against Marquette with an overall record of 3-2-2.
CSU Women’s Soccer is projected to finish fifth in conference, having received 73 quotes from the league coaches, while Milwaukee was voted to finish first with 120 votes.
The Vikings, however, were voted two spots higher than they finished last year, showing promise for the 2023-24 season.
Following tonight’s game, CSU is off to play IUPUI for a 1 p.m. match on Thursday, Sept. 17th.
