CSU women’s soccer fall to RMU in a conference game thriller – The Cauldron
Cleveland State women’s soccer took on Robert Morris University on Thursday, Oct. 12 at Krenzler Field, ultimately falling 2-1. The game kicked off at 7 p.m. with 345 in attendance, bearing the brisk 50 degree weather for yet another conference match.
The first half of play was nothing short of combative, with a combined 15 shots, 9 saves and 9 fouls. In the 29th minute, Viking Erica Leinweber scored the first goal of the match unassisted to put CSU up 0-1. The first 45 minutes came to a close with the half’s remaining score of 0-1.

Within the first 10 minutes of the second half, RMU’s Haleigh Finale shot from a distance to bring the game to a 1-1 tie. Soon to follow, her teammate Elisa Corvalan, assisted by Shauna Gamble and Kaora Hayashi scored for Robert Morris to take a 2-1 lead.
The Vikings were unable to respond and fell to RMU with a final score of 2-1.
The team now stands with an overall of 3-9-3 with a conference record of 0-5-3. The Vikings have 2 remaining regular season games.
CSU women’s soccer will take on Detroit at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15th at Titan Field for a Horizon League conference game.
