The Cleveland State men’s basketball team defeated Canisius 58-57 in overtime Wednesday night at the Koessler Athletic Center.

Four Vikings recorded double figures for the Green and White. Junior forward Tristan Enaruna led the charge, recording a double-double by pouring in 15 points and holding 10 rebounds on top of his two assists. Joining Enaruna in double figures was Deshon Parker with 12 points, Tae Williams with 11 points, and Deante Johnson with 10 points.

The Vikings’ defense was the story of the first half as they managed to lock down Canisius, leading 30-18 at the break. However, Canisius would go on to have a 7-0 run in the second frame, cutting the CSU lead down to one with under 6 minutes left of play and the score at 47-46.

After a timeout had been called, the two teams would keep the game close and finish the second frame tied up at 53. In overtime, Williams would hit a jumper for two, followed by a three-pointer by Enaruna that would hold the lead and secure the win for the Vikings, 58-57.

Following the game, head coach Daniyal Robinson shared his thoughts, “Great day to be a Vike,” he exclaimed. “These guys hung in there in a tough environment. That team made a run. They were resilient. Our guys came back and kept their composure. We were able to outlast them tonight, and I’m so proud of our group.”

The Vikings will play back home on Friday to host Arkansas Pine Bluff at the Wolstein Center at 7 p.m.
