CSU Cultural Crossings presents Latin Arts Festival for Hispanic Heritage Month – The Cauldron

Cleveland State Cultural Crossings, a lecture series brought to students by the Humanities Consortium at CSU, is hosting the Latin Arts Festival for a second year on Tuesday, Sept. 26 in the Berkman Hall Auditorium.

The festival will showcase “a mesmerizing showcase of musical talent,” featuring Latin Fusion Band “Son Gitano,” Francisco Bedoy, accompaniment by Madeline Levitz, and String Duo Alonso-Rebuffi, with guitarist Rodrigo Lara Alonso and violinist Marcelo Rebuffi.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m., the event will begin with refreshments and performances will follow from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m..

“This event is a fantastic way to reach out to the Latino community,” Professor of Spanish and Linguistics Antonio Medina-Rivera said. “Our inaugural Latino Festival in 2019 was a resounding success.”

The festival is free of charge and open to all.

Hispanic Heritage Month at CSU

Hispanic Heritage Month in the United States is from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, and celebrates the history, culture and contributions of the Hispanic and Latino community.

CSU has other events slated for Hispanic Heritage Month.

On Thursday, Oct. 5, the Viking Marketplace will serve traditional Latin and Hispanic cuisine.

On Sunday, Oct. 15, The Office of Inclusion and Multicultural Engagement will livestream the Latinx Leads Student Leadership Conference, which is “the largest national gathering of Latinx student leaders and campus-based advisors to address the most critical topics of diversity and social justice challenging our Latinx community within colleges and universities.” The live stream will be in The Pratt Center in Rhodes Tower 1254.
