The game kicked off at 5 p.m. at Krenzler Field with an estimated 150 in attendance. The first half was nothing short of competitive, with a combined seven fouls and twelve goal attempts between the two teams. Milwaukee’s Kayla Rollins scored to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead mid-way through the first half. Soon to follow, CSU’s  Brooke Opferman, assisted by Madi Snyder and Linda Feltovich, scored the first goal of the Vikings with a corner kick to end the half with a solid 1-1 tie.

In the second half, with merely nine minutes remaining, Milwaukee’s Clara Broecker broke the tie with a 25 yard goal assisted by Lainey Higgins. The Vikings battled to the very end, but ultimately fell to the Milwaukee Panthers 2-1. It was, however, telling that both teams were evenly matched.

CSU Women’s Soccer team is off to verse IUPUI for a 1 p.m. match on Thursday, Sept. 17th.

Women’s soccer matches are free admission.
