Breaking and entering, theft among 21 open felonies in week seven – The Cauldron

maximios March 6, 2024 Guide

Following a decline in reports since the fifth week of classes, week seven saw a spike up to eighteen reports, with 21 open felonies, according to the Cleveland State University Sixty Day Crime Log.

Reports of extortion and telephone harassment in Euclid Commons were suspended, and an arrest was made over possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of burglary at The Langston. Each of the 24 other charges, with 21 felonies, is open.

Four counts each of breaking and entering and theft were reported in an incident at Euclid Commons on Feb. 26, and another one count of each was reported on Feb. 27. These two incidents account for ten of the week’s open felonies.

In Lot 27, two separate incidents of criminal damaging or endangering, theft, and motor vehicle trespass on Feb. 28 account for another six of the week’s open felonies.

On Feb. 29, an off-campus incident occurred involving theft of a credit card or checks, criminal damaging or endangering, theft, and motor vehicle trespass.

The past two weeks have each had four incidents involving a combination of criminal damaging or endangering, theft, and motor vehicle trespass.

Three fire alarms and five supervisory smoke alarms are both above the semester’s average of two to three reports each.

Using the Sixty Day Crime Log that is available in person and online at the Cleveland State University Police Department website, the list of crime reports from the past week have been compiled into one list, excluding the campus safety escorts.
