Cleveland State University students received campus safety alerts related to a bomb threat made against the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law building, the evening of Nov. 4.

According to CSU’s administrative team, an emergency evacuation of the law school took place around 8 p.m., cautioning students to avoid the area.

The law school and law library were closed soon after the evacuation, awaiting police and fire departments to arrive.

During the event, law school dean and professor Lee Fisher released a statement to students during the investigation.

“All we know right now is that there was a threat called into the CSU Police department this evening about a bomb in the law school,” Fisher said.

“Our building has been evacuated. The police and fire departments are in the building investigating. I have spoken with the CSU police chief, and as soon as I know more, I will send an update.”

Once police arrived, traffic was closed between East 18th and East 21st streets as bomb dogs began to sniff the area.

At 10:12 p.m. CSU Campus Safety released the following statement: “Police and Fire have cleared the emergency at Law Building and Law Library at 1801 Euclid Avenue. Resume normal activities.”
