50% spike in crime during “Halloweek” – The Cauldron

maximios November 12, 2023 Guide

Up 50% from the week prior, there were 21 crime log entries from Oct. 27 through Nov. 2, according to the Cleveland State University Sixty Day Crime Log.

Contributing to the increase were four fire alarms and five supervisory smoke alarms, though there was one each last week. The average combined number of alarms is about eight per week.

Six counts of motor vehicle trespass, five counts of criminal damaging or endangering, two counts of theft and three counts of petty theft are on the list of week’s crimes, with the majority listed as open.

At The Edge, there were two counts of tampering listed in the same report, and one report of aggravated menacing at Fenn Tower.

Using the Sixty Day Crime Log that is available in person and online at the Cleveland State University Police Department website, the list of crime reports from the past week have been compiled into one list, excluding the campus safety escorts.
